OSCE condemns Russia recognition of Georgia regions
"The recognition of independence for South Ossetia and Abkhazia violates fundamental OSCE principles," Alexander Stubb, chairman in office of OSCE, said in a statement.
The head of Europe's top human rights and security body, the OSCE, on Tuesday condemned Russia's recognition of the breakaway Georgian regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. "The recognition of independence for South Ossetia and Abkhazia violates fundamental OSCE principles," Alexander Stubb, chairman in office of the 56-nation Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe, said in a statement. "Russia should follow OSCE principles by respecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia. Russia should immediately withdraw all troops from Georgia and implement the ceasefire agreement," he said. The international community could not accept unilaterally established buffer zones, he added. © 2008 Bütün hüquqlar qorunur. Xəbərlərdən istifadə edərkən ANS-PRESS-ə istinad zəruridir.
