Medvedev to meet with security council over Georgia regions

Today RF Security Council will hold a meeting in Sochi concerning the recognition of independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia and the consequences which may rise particularly for Russia in case of decision made in favor of Georgia’s autonomous regions.

According to Russian mass media during Sochi meeting Dmitry Medvedev will clarify the real number of Russian soldiers that will have to stay in South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

Russian Defense minister Anatoly Serdyukov, Foreign minister Sergey Lavrov and heads of both chambers of parliament Boris Gryzlov and Sergey Mironow will also take part in Sochi meeting.

What is strange about the conference, there is no agenda, which gives a bit “unusual” character to it, analysts say.

Note that both chambers of Russian parliament asked President Dmitry Medvedev on Monday to recognize the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
