Last group of Azerbaijani sportsmen took part in the Beijing-2008 Olympic Games came back to Motherland. Hundreds of fans were waiting for them despite the plain arrived an hour late.

Winners of bronze medals - Shahin Imranov (boxer), Maria Stadnuk (woman wrestler) and Khetag Gazyumov (free style wrestler) were first to come downstairs.

Shahin Imranov interviewed by ANS TV said he considers his victory is the victory of Azerbaijani people.

And Maria Stadnuk said she considers her first meeting was she most difficult one: “That is, I could not concentrate my force and lost that game. Thank God, I managed and won bronze medal finally”.

And Khetag Gazyumov said: “I am happy that I won my first bronze medal in the Olympic Games. Despite I indended for golden medal, I consider it is a good result. Unfortunately I failed in the semifinal”.

Youth, who watched the contest of Azerbaijani sportsmen in China and Azerbaijani Minister of Sport, Azad Rahimov also congratulated all including families of the sportsmen.

To him, the Olympic Games are unforgettable for its significant outcomes. “We witnessed very intersting competitions of our sportsmen. And we have got an interesting statistic as well: Azerbaijan is 3^rd winning first golden medal among Islam countries. Azerbaijan is also first winner of golden medal in CIS. The fact that we stand in 39^th and 29^th places among 206 countries is also a succees from quality and quatity view”, A.Rahimov said.

Azerbaijani sportsmen won 1 golden, 2 silver and 4 bronze medals in XXIX Summer Olympic Games held in Beijing, the capital city of China.
