"Everybody can express his opinion without any obstacle," head of Press Council Aphlatun Amashov said while commenting on current condition of Azerbaijani press. He told ANS PRESS that now everybody can create a mass media body through Ministry of Justice and this is the biggest achievement gained by Azerbaijani journalism.

Head of Press Council also said that Azerbaijani press is in transition period at present and there are problems along with achievements as well.  Amashov says the first problem of press is its low economic condition and the other problems are directly connected with low economic condition. Politicizing of press,growing racket journalism, low professionalism of journalists are dependent on economic condition.

"I assess the condition of Azerbaijani press as normal," says Bakhtiyar Sadigov, editor-in-chief of Azerbaijan newspaper. He also considers there is no restriction in freedom of speech and press.  Anyone can establish a newspaper with only an application. Sadigov says there's a strong legal basis in Azerbaijanfor development f freedom of press and speech."

Nevertheless, Bakhtiyar Sadigov considers there are problems in the press as well. As one of these problems,  he mentions economic condition of press.
