88 Azerbaijani peacekeepers return from Iraq after military service
They have been replaced by new peacekeepers on the basis of rotation.

88 Azerbaijani peacekeepers returned to the country on Monday night after having served in Iraq. The Azerbaijani peacekeepers were mainly involved in protection of strategic objects in Iraq. The commander of peacekeeping detachment Sadiq Yahyazadeh told ANS TV that his soldiers served in Iraq's Al-Hadida city for 6 months. "Our duty was to protect a hydroelectric power station, military bases and ensuring security of US personnel in the town of Al-Hadida. We served alongside US soldiers and shared our experience with each other. We learnt new nuances and used them in our service."

Platoon commander of the peacekeeping detachment Zaur Alakbarov said 30 Azerbaijani soldiers had beenawarded with medals and titles. 

The peackeepers returning to the country have been replaced by new soldiers in Iraq. Namely, the same number of peacekeepers were sent to Iraq in early-July. /ANS TV/
