Fields promise 2,3 million tons grain crop in our country this year, experts of Ministry of Agriculture said citing the figures on harvest process. Department Chief Sabir Valiyev said reap finished in 54% fields and 1,2 million tons grain crop has been collected. Azerbaijan will purchse grain from abroad, including Ukraine to cover shortage grain. Kazakhstan is specifying the quantity of grain to be sold to Azerbaijan. The ambassador of Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan said the aforesaid quantity can be known after the harevest season is finished, namely in Septenmber. Azerbaijan imports about 1million ton grain every year. These are mainly Russia and Kazakhstan. But the country is palnning to import grain from Ukraine this year. The issue is expected to be discussed in the meeting of working group on development of small business to be held in Kiyev on July 8 this year. Department chief of the Ministry of Economic Development Samir Nuriyev said ANS TV that several Azerbaijani businessmen specialized in trade of grain and flour will take part in the business forum. The question was discussed between Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshchenko and her Azerbaijani counterpart Artur Rasizadeh in the meetring of prime ministers of CIS memmer countries on May 2008. S.Nuriyev emphasized this proposal is interesting for Azerbaijan from view of establishment of grain fund.
