“At present, Russia is the largest trade partner of Turkey,” Ali Babacan, Turkish Foreign Minister, said Sergey Lavrov, Russia’s Foreign Minister, in the joint news conference.
Russian Foreign Minister is on his official visit to Turkey.
Babacan said that Russia takes the first place amongst the countries, which have trade relations with Turkey. According to the Turkish Minister, the volume of investments into Russia by Turkish companies reached $6bln, and Russian investments into Turkey made up $4bln in 2007. In 2007, the number of Russian tourists to Turkey exceeded 2mln people.
“2007 was announced the Year of Russian culture in Turkey and 2008 the Year of Turkey in Russia. For this purpose different arrangements are held in Moscow, St.Petersburg, Kazan and other countries.
Lavrov said that the predicted volume of trade turnover $25bln between Russia and Turkey have been implemented. The current increase in trade turnover between the countries, as well as investments and number of tourists shows good relations between Russia and Turkey. The Russian Minister said that he support the progress achieved in settlement of the Cyprus problem./Trend/
