Adoption of law on prevention money-laundering and its finacing in Azerbaijan lingering
CoE consultant told at the seminar organized by European Council in Lankaran
Public Information Seminar was organized in Lankaran by the Council of Europe with the support of State Commission against Corruption and US Agency for International Development. The main aim of the seminar is to present new anti-corruption strategy and activity plan as a part of “Support for Struggle against Corruption in Azerbaijan.“ Discussions around the document was held with the participation of representatives of government, forensic, international organizations, public and mass media means. The CoE consultant, Quentin Rid informed the attendants that the project is consisted of mainly four parts. In the first part, project defines the general strategic framework. In the second part, discussions of some drafts on the improvement of legislation in Azerbaijan is intended. The third phase includes developing mechanisms enabling to prevent “washing” and financing black money. “Regretfully, this part of the project has not been carried out to date. It is delayed to adopt a law with regard to this issue in Azerbaijan”, -said Mr. Rid. Similar seminars have been held in Baku, Ganja and Yevlakh before now.
