It is expected that the local internet service providers will lower the price of broadband access by 15-20 percent.
The price for digital broadband access in Azerbaijan will be reduced in nearly ten days. Local internet providers are expected to lower the prices by around 15-20 percent after the decision made at the Tariff Council come to effect. The Tariff Council previously informed that it had adopted the resolution upon reduction in the price of digital broadband access. Thus, the price for 2 megabits per second connection speeds has been reduced from AZN 1200 to AZN 600 excluding those organizations financed directly from state budget. The monthly payments for the same connection speed, however, were reduced from AZN 320 to AZN 300, connection and monthly subscription costs were reduced from AZN 240 to AZN 200. The Council also enforced a number of reductions in high-schools. It is believed to lead to lower costs in the schools. The move taken by the Council is said to be in line with the state program approved by the President on 10 June in 2008. It will enable to provide the schools located in remote areas with internet and will create better opportunities for citizens to easily access to internet. /ANS TV/
