Politic / 22.12.2008 13:47 Turkish-Armenian relations won't normalize until regulation of Qarabaq conflict
Armenian ex-President Levon Ter-Petrosyan stated.
“Armenian-Turkish relations will not be normalized and borders will not be opened until the Daqliq Qarabaq conflict is solved," said Armenian ex-president Levon Ter-Petrosyan, ANS PRESS reports quoting News Armenia agency.
Ter-Petrosyan said normalization of the relations betwen the two countries would depend on principal and constructive position of official Ankara and its impact on Azerbaijan as well. “Turkey considers establishment of joint commission of Armenian and Turkish historians to research the 1915 events which Armenia claims to be a genocide. This forgotten idea was brought on agenda as a result Armenian President Serj Sargsyan’s wrong policy. Establishing of the joint commission will be a serious barrier for settlement of Daqliq Qarabaq conflict and normalization of Armenia-Turkey relations, because Turkey will not leave the idea of joint commission and on the other hand, Serj Sargsyan, even if he wants, cannot succeed in realization of this idea under the pressure of public opinion,” Ter-Petrosyan added.
