Vugar Hashimov is leading the tournament.
The seventh round at FIDE Grand Prix tournament in Elista, Russia has ended. Though none of the three national chess players won in this round, Azerbaijani grandmaster Vugar Hashimov is leading the tournament. Hahsimov`s draw against French Etien Bacrot secured him the first place. Another national Mammadyarov can’t avoid a syndrome of drawing so far. The chess master had draws in all of the first six games and made another draw with Dmitri Yakovenko, Russian player in the last game. Unfortunately, Teymur Rajabov, our chief player, couldn’t succeed in the seventh round. Playing with black, Teymur met his first defeat in the tournament in the 62th move against Russian Ernesto İnarkiyev. Vugar Hashimov and Alexander Grishuk hold 1-2 places after 7 rounds with 4,5 points each. Teymur and Yakovenko hold next places with 4 points.
