People in the south region of Azerbaijan are being prepared for a holiday "Chille", traditional for these places which is marked as cheerfully as Novruz Holiday. But brides, dealers are waiting the approach of this holiday with special impatience, because this time of the big revival in trade.

Pumpkins and water-melons disperse at this time of the year as hot pies. According to ancient belief the gifts of land should decorate celebratory tables especially.

The history of this holiday totals a millennium and goes back to times fire worship when it was accepted to mark the change of seasons of the year. (There is distinguished “Boyuk Chille” - forty days after approach of winter and “Kichik Chille” - twenty days after forty days).

It is accepted to display special hospitality, kindness and mutual respect on the days of the holiday. People visit each other to strengthen relations, present gifts to their friends and closes and relatives. Before celebratory evening it is accepted to present to brides celebratory gifts which should include the water-melon, pumpkin and sweets.

The symbolical value of the holiday "Chille" is that celebrating arrival of winter, people dissolve all difficulties of forthcoming difficult days in fun. And a food first of all, a water-melon and a pumpkin laid on celebratory table remind of future sun and heat.
