The committee members from Great Britain, Turkey, Germany, Russia, Hungary including A. Gross (Switzerland) highly praised the process of presidential elections in Azerbaijan.
Next session of PACE Monitoring Committee was held in PACE office in Paris on November 19. The session focused on the situation in Monaco, Albania, Ukraine and Bulgaria and Georgia-Russia relations as well as held initial hearings on the outcomes of the presidential elections in Azerbaijan held on October 15. Head of the Azerbaijani delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, (PACE), Samad Seyidov told the session held exchange of opinions on the current situation and presidential elections in Azerbaijan. “The Co-rapporteurs on Azerbaijan A.Herkel (Estonia) and E. Jivkova (Bulagaria) expressed their opinions on the presidential elections and the process of the elections in Azerbaijan. The opinions already known to Council of Europe found reflection in their speeches as well. That is, the presidential elections was a remarkable step to future in Azerbaijan and the elections met requirements of PACE as well as international standards”. The committee members from Great Britain, Turkey, Germany, Russia, Hungary including A. Gross (Switzerland) highly praised the process of presidential elections in Azerbaijan. But final reports noted subjective and double standards. And PACE Monitoring Committee members voiced concern in that connection.
