Heavy floods destroyed several bridges and damaged roads in the mountainous area in southern Azerbaijani regions.
Heavy rains fell on October 11-12 in the southern part of Azerbaijan created serious problems in Lankaran and Astara regions and increased watering in the rivers.
Lankaran River burst its banks and filled the drain channels which caused serious problems in the agricultural fields and private farms in Hirkan, Parakend, Garmaturk, Saglakuche, Girdani, Separadi, Kharkhatan and other villages of the region. Heavy floods destroyed several bridges and damaged roads in the mountainous area. Electricity was cut in some residential areas of the region last evening. Emergency brigade of the energy network intensified its working regime. Heavy techniques were involved in the cleaning of drain channels. Floods damaged more than 100 houses in Astara Region. Residents of nearly 50 houses were immediately evacuated. 11 villages were isolated as a result of damaging the bridges and roads. Some houses in Miki and Siyaku villages were damaged as a result of landslide. Officials of the Ministry of Emergency Situations visited the disaster area. Heavy techniques were brought to the regions for elimination of disaster results. The officials are determining the material damages. /APA/
