Unclean water release from occupied territories harms Azerbaijani settlements
Local residents were warned not to use river water.

The release of unclean water into Tartarchay (Tartar River) from occupied territories of Azerbaijan causes severe damages to agriculture of Tartar and a number of nearby Azerbaijani settlements. Mehman Kerimov, chief engineer of Tartarchay Operation Department told ANSPRESS that it was impossible to use river water released by Armenians in the last 20 days. The water samples taken from river were analyzed at Melioration and Water Agriculture laboratory. Analysis indicated that the water was unfit for use. Local authorities warned residents to avoid using river water.

Local residents of a number of Azerbaijani regions including Tartar, Barda, Goranboy, Yevlakh and Aghdam use Tartarchay water for agricultural purposes. According to local people the loss among livestock was also observed lately. It is reported that Armenians unlocked the water discharge gates in order to clean mud accumulated at Sarsang Water Reservoir over the past 15 years. And it resulted in muddy flows in the river. About 5-6 million cubic meter of mud was released. It is not known when muddy flow will be prevented.

Local farmers are preparing for next season. But it seems they won`t be able to water their crops properly. Artesian water, however, enables farmers only to water 20-25% of their fields. /ANSPRESS/
