President of National Nongovernmental Organizations Forum Rauf Zeyni held a press conference in connection with Georgia-Russia conflict. Rauf Zeyni said expressed his concern over the happenings in Georgia and called on the NGOs of the region to cooperate in order to mediate in the solution of the conflict. Zeyni said that NGOs of the region countries (except Armenia) were ready for cooperation. According to him, Management Board of the forum had made a statement expressing the organization’s position.
“Deployment of Russian troops in Georgian territories resulted in human losses. We call on the conflicting parties to peace. Taking into account the essence of the developments and special importance for the countries of the region, the forum calls on all the NGOs operating in the region to cooperate in order to reduce tension in Georgia,” he said. /APA/
