Expansion of the road will be complete in August.
Two roads will be put in operation in Baku soon. Transport Ministry informed these are an overpass over Zigh Highway and a tunnel. As a part of Azadlig Square-Zigh Circle-Heydar Aliyev International Airport Highway Reconstruction Project, Azerbaijan’s Akkord construction company plans to complete the expansion of Azadlig Square-Zigh Circle Road. The project has two phases: the first- 20km-long 29.5m-wide 6-lane concrete road from Zigh Circle to Heydar Aliyev International Airport and the second phase- 12km-long, 36m-wide 8-lane asphalt road from Azadlig Square-Zigh Circle. The second phase also includes 690m-long, 23.4m-wide overpass and a 4-lane, 26m-wide, 630m-long tunnel. 5 pedestrian crossings will be constructed on the road and 2m-wide sidewalks along the both sides of the road. There will be lighting poles along the road. Expansion of the road will be completed in August. The project was launched in November, 2007.
