14 men died, 57 – injured as a result of the terrorism act.
14 years pass from the day when explosion took place in the tunnel between Ganjlik and May 28 metro stations in Baku. On July 3, 1994 the train moving to Ganjlik station was exploded at 8:35 local time. Investigations showed TNT was placed in a coach of the train. The heavy blast threw the coach with trotyl onto the ceiling of the tunnel. 14 men died, 57 – injured as a result of this act of terrorism. It caused damages in millions of dollars. Three persons supposed on setting off explosion - Saakov, Ilchuk and Karechikov were detained. But investigations showed they were involved in an attempt explosion of Neftchilar metro station, Tazapir Mosque and poisoning Sarsang water reservoir, not Ganjlik station. And news about explosion of metro came from Russia. As a result of joint operation carried out by Ministries of National Security and Internal Affairs terrorist Azer Aslanov was arrested in Moscow and it was determined that an Armenian had finger in the explosion. It was investigated that Azer Aslanov who had been a captive in Armenia agreed to set off explosion in the metro station to free his mother from hostage.A.Aslanov was sentenced to life imprisonment including confiscation of his property for hish treason. This was the 32nd act of terrorism caused by Armenia since the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Daqliq Qarabaq had started.
