Today is 85th anniversary of Heydar Aliyev. Many consider him to be one of the most prominent Azerbaijanis of modern time and in some aspects even the most outstanding one. He played an important role in formation and strengthening of Azerbaijani state and led it for many years. A number of events have been held throughout Azerbaijan dedicated to this date for more than a month. As ANS TV, rich with the most interesting episodes of the modern Azerbaijani history, we could follow the traditional way and publish Heydar Aliyev’s exclusives with the TV, thus compile a rich scientific-theoretical-bibliographic work. But, we escaped from that focusing on a simple detail, proving foresight of Heydar Aliyev.

Let’s have a look back at 2001, when main ideas and targets of super powers were energy sources, when the US was aiming at new oil resources in the world, using “anti-terror operations” ideology, which in some cases failed to be a real anti-terror operation.

Now, after only 7 years, in 2008, leading powers of the world are facing other dangers. As if “terrorists” have escaped, though they are not destroyed and states, concerned by terrorism, have not solved their problems yet. Today’s targets are different. The world is on the verge of food crisis. And world top states – the US, UK, France, Russia, and Germany have just started to look for ways out of the crisis. Now, it is time to return to 2001 again. March 2. Here is a document – “Program of Food Security of the Republic of Azerbaijan”. The document envisages the political line for food provision of Azerbaijan for 2001-2011 years with all its details. Recommendations on macroeconomic and financial policy strategies, money, budget, tax, trade and customs policies, development strategy of agriculture, are reflected in the document. Besides, the document also includes preparations to emergency cases, as food shortage. And this, once more, proves the foresight of Heydar Aliyev.
